Tibet boasts rich outdoor resources, including snow mountains, forests, lakes and grasslands. Various outdoor competition events have been introduced and competition bases been set up in Lhasa, Shigatse and Nyingchi.

The region’s physical education departments have held varied large-scale events, such as bicycle races around the Basum Lake, rock climbing competitions, endurance matches and Namjagbrawa mountainous half-marathons.

Nyingchi Plateau Training Base built in 2015 is now put into use, where regular trainings in wrestling, mid-distance races, archery and rock climbing can be received.

Yangbajain High-altitude Training Base in Lhasa, featured with trainings in mountain climbing and bicycle riding, has also made its effort to boost outdoor sports industry in the region.
