Shigatse: demonstration planting of highland barley passes national evaluation

July 7,2017--According to the Quality and Technology Supervision Bureau of Shigatse City, the standardized planting of highland barley of Shigatse City has made certain achievements and has passed the expert evaluation that is organized by the Standardization Administration of China (SAC).
 
Through demonstration planting, the output of Shigatse highland barley planting demonstration area is increased from 360 kilograms to 380 kilograms per mu. The output of Gyangze highland barley planting demonstration area is increased from 325 kilograms to 360 kilograms per mu.
 
The planting scale of Shigatse highland barley planting demonstration area is expanded from 10000 mu to 5.8 mu. The planting scale of Gyangze highland barley planting demonstration area is expanded from 10000 mu to 40000 mu.
 
At present, the planting area of Shigatse highland barley planting demonstration area reaches 58000 mu and planters reaches 3578 households. The total highland barley output is 22.04 million kilograms and the value is 110 million yuan. The per capita income of farmers of this demonstration area increases 600 yuan. The planting area of Gyangze highland barley planting demonstration area reaches 40000 mu and planters reaches 528 households. The total highland barley output is 14.4 million kilograms and the value is 28.8 million yuan. The per capita income of farmers of this demonstration area increases 566 yuan.
 
By adopting standardized planting, pesticide, chemical fertilizer and other toxic substance during the process of production are limited, which reduces pesticide residue's pollution to soil and improves ecological environment.
