June 9, 2017 -- A mobile- payment app introduced by the Lhasa Branch of the People’s Bank of China is getting popular in a village in Naqu Prefecture of northern Tibet in western China.

As Internet finance develops, digital payments are replacing cash in cities, but not in rural areas in Tibet.

The app will provide the same services enjoyed by people in cities , which makes payment much more convenient in villages. Besides Naqu, Ali Prefecture is also a pilot place for the app, according to the Lhasa Branch.

Villagers have been imparted the knowledge on digital transaction and fending off financial risks.

The mobile-payment app now used in Naqu and Ali will be introduced to more rural areas in Tibet.
