May 15,2017--The new Yunnan-Tibet road (within Tibet) will be put into use by the end of this year, which will shorten transportation distance, improve transport links, facilitate tourism and help reduce poverty in Tibet.

The construction was launched on June 26, 2015 and is expected to be completed by December 26, 2017. The total length of the main line in Tibet will be about 264 kilometers. Besides the main line, there are three feeder lines with a total length of about 41 kilometers.

It took nearly 13 hours from Cawarong town to Zayu County by car in the past, but the time will be reduced to 8 hours after the completion of the road.

The new road is of great significance for Tibet’s development. It will improve local transportation conditions, turn resources advantages into economic advantages, and provide strong support to the poverty alleviation efforts in Tibet.
