Tibetans see a double-digit growth in disposable income

Feb. 16, 2017 -- Tibet's GDP is expected to reach 114.8 billion in 2016, up 11.5 percent, and the per capita disposable incomes of urban and rural residents reached 27,875 yuan and 9,316 yuan, increasing by 10 percent and 13 percent respectively. 
 
In 2016, Tibet entered a new stage in developing agriculture and animal husbandry and infrastructure. Investment in supporting farmers got a boost in 2016, increasing by 53 percent compared with 2012.
 
In 2017, Tibet will promote supply-side agricultural reform and increase investment in agriculture and animal husbandry. 685 comprehensive service centers will be established across towns in Tibet this year.
 
Tibet has made new progress in two major areas—its feature industries and ecological civilization development. 21 agricultural products have won domestic and international awards. Over 600,000 tons of natural drinkable water was sold in 2016. More than 100,000 famers and herdmen made a better living through tourism. 
 
In 2016, 23.15 million tourists visited Tibet, creating a revenue of 33 billion yuan. Tibet has vowed to step up efforts to develop its feature tourism industry this year. Tibet has set a goal of receiving a total of 25 million tourists and earning over 37 billion yuan in tourism revenue in 2017.
