Lhasa Railway Station ushering in second peak wave of return passenger flow

Feb. 15, 2017 -- On the 16th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, Lhasa Railway Station ushered in peak return passenger flow once again, which is the second peak wave of return passenger flow after the Spring Festival. On February 12th, the station sent 4,570 passengers. From February 13th on, the number of passengers going out of Tibet has decreased gradually. However, Lhasa Railway Station has ushered in the peak passenger flow to Tibet recently. On February 12th, the number of passengers going to Tibet reached 5,897. To ease the traffic pressure, temporary trains from Xining to Lhasa have been added.
 
According to responsible person from Lhasa Railway Station, after the Spring Festival, Lhasa Railway Station has seen the return passenger flow peak first appeared on the 6th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar (February 2nd). On February 2nd, Lhasa Railway Station sent 4,869 passengers, most of whom are returning to work after visiting relatives. The main directions are from Lhasa to Shigatse, Golmud, Xining, Nagqu Amdo. From the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar (February 11th) on, Lhasa Railway Station ushered in the second wave of return peak passenger flow, which are mainly the student flow and the migrant workers flow. On February 12th, Lhasa Railway Station sent 4,570 passengers.
 
After the 16th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, the number of tourists going out of Tibet began to decline. However, the weekend passenger flow volume may be more than usual, since many citizens and tourists want to go to Shigatse for a short trip. It is expected that  a surplus of train tickets out of Tibet will be gradually available. However, after mid April, as the area gradually enters into the tourist season, passenger flow to Tibet will increase, and the train tickets to Tibet will be tight as well.
 
Warm reminders from Lhasa Railway Station, passengers who recently plan to go out of Tibet had better purchase return tickets in advance, since the train tickets to Tibet are tight.
