Feb. 8, 2017 -- Tourists from 41 countries and regions swarmed to Tibet during the Spring Festival to experience the plateau’s unique customs and scenery.
Tibet saw a 74.1 percent year-on-year growth in tourist number during the New Year holiday. To embrace the tourism peak, Tibet’s local governments launched several preferential policies and a travel route of “Winter Tour to Tibet”.
"I shared photos of the scenic spot on my WeChat with a holiday wish," said Wang Chengrao who rode a bike for days to Lhasa.
Tourists not only came to admire the unique scenery, but also experienced the unique hospitality of the local people.
"This is my seventh visit here. I enjoy the New Year celebration very much," said Yuan Se, an outdoor enthusiast.
Various items with Tibetan characteristics, such as clothing, jewelry, incense and other handicrafts, are popular among tourists.
