Health conditions of women and children in Tibet improved continuously

Jan. 4, 2017 -- According o the Public Health and Family Planning Department of Tibet Autonomous Region, during the 12th Five Year Plan period, the state has allocated 273.26 million yuan in the construction of Tibet's medical first aid system in agricultural and pastoral areas as well as material and child hygiene, which greatly improves the health conditions of women and children in Tibet. Mortality rate of pregnant and lying-in women, infants, and children below 5 years old decreases 42.26%, 22.67% and 28.88% respectively than that of the 11th Five Year Plan. Hospital birth rate is improved to 90.54%.
 
In recent years, Tibet has been positively promoting the implemention of all kinds of measures and projects on women and children's health. Hospital births are strongly advocated. Green channel is established for critical and severe pregnant women and new borns. Treatment process is standarded. Free screening work on breast cancer and cervical cancer is carried out for rural women. Free treatment work for children with congenital heart disease is strengthened.
 
Besides, cities and prefectures at all levels in Tibet also positively explore suitable management mode by integrating with actual situation. Through realizing the cooperation of village doctors, village women's directors, and village task forces, pregnant women and children can be found, propagandaed, registered and checked up in time. Critical and severe pregnant and lying-in women can be transfered to another hospital with convenient traffic and safety guarantee. The channel to be hospitalized is unblocked.
 
All the above measures are helpful to ensure the safety of perinatal mother and children.
