In recent years, with the implement of in-depth reform, Nyingchi plans and conducts towns scientifically by developing ecotourism, transport, Tibetan medicine and other resources. Gongbo Gyamda, Bayi and Pome boasting golden tour line along the No. 318 National Highway encourage local farmer, herdsmen, individual businesses and private economy to build Lunam, Bayi, Dramog and other tourism towns featuring tourism, accommodation, shopping and catering. Menling, Metok and Zayul set up Menling, Zayul and other towns with featured towns by developing hydropower, medicines and agriculture production. At the moment, Nyingchi's urban network has been formed. The urbanization rate hits 37.97 percent, higher than Tibet's average level. There are 17 towns in Nyingchi have been on the list of the construction of national key towns. Bayi Town has been awarded as national new-type urbanization pilot town. Lunam is the pilot of Tibet's featured town. There are over 20,000 farmers and herdsmen coming to towns for business and working.

 

Last year, the revenue of Tibetan medicine reached more than 1.1 billion yuan, realizing an income of over 5,300 yuan for local farmers and herdsmen. With an employment of more than 3,000, over 300 companies deal with culture industry. Besides, there are about 1,000 hotels and over 300 family inns. 2015 has witnessed 3.52 million tourists in Nyingchi from home and abroad. The visitors brought 3.28 billion yuan in tourism revenue. There were more than 5,000 farmers and herdsmen in tourism revenue. The per capita income grew 5,200 yuan.

 

With the rising of towns in Nyingchi, the construction of urbanization and a comprehensive well-off society has been also accelerated. Farmers and herdsmen, living by farming and grazing previously, now move to the town and deal with the tertiary industry.
