Project construction promotes Tibet’s economic development

Dec. 21, 2016 -- During the 13th Five Year Plan period, Tibet will carry out a series of key projects in the field of energy, transportation, water conservancy, communication, urban infrastructure construction and so on, so as to make up the short slab of the infrastructure construction of building a well-off society in an all-round way, as well as form a strong support for the economic and social development.
 
Statistics of the first three quarters of 2016 show that highway construction projects have completed an investment of over 30 billion yuan. The number of newly-constructed and reopened water conservancy projects is 344 with a completed investment of 4.88 billion yuan. The completed investment of energy projects is 8.569 billion yuan. Among 1996 subprojects that are arranged in 2016, 205 projects have been completed, while 1689 projects are still under construction. The operating rate is 94.9%.
 
Infrastructure construction plays an important role in Tibet's economic construction. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, Tibet's infrastructure construction entered a new stage and made great achievements. For example, Medog road opened to traffic. Reconstruction and extension projects of Konggar, Mainling, Bamda airports were carried out smoothly. Domestic and international air routes reached 63 and the number of navigable cities was 40. Three-dimensional traffic system made a significant difference. Pangduo water control project was built and put into use. Mobile signal was fully covered in administrative villages. Water supply and drainage engineering was completed for 54 counties. New-type urbanization is pushed forward smoothly. Lhasa City's urban heating project was completed. Safe drinking water project was carried out. All the above projects can benefit huge numbers of families in Tibet.
