Tibet:rural power grid upgrading project in full swing

Dec. 16, 2016 -- On Dec.14, an aid agreement signing meeting was held in Lhasa by the State Grid Corp., marking that the new round of rural power grid upgrading project in Tibet was carried out in full swing.
 
In respect of the targetedpoverty alleviation, grid companies of Heibei, Shanxi, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Fujian province will give assistance to oriented areas in Tibet's Ngari, Chamdo, Shigatse, Lhasa, Nagqu, Lhoka and Nyingchi respectively. Personnel, technology, construction, material support and so on will be provided for the power grid upgrading.
 
This project aims for 3300 small towns and center villages in Tibet, covering 66 counties and 1.62 million population. The investment is estimated to be 12.35 billion yuan, exceeding the total investment of the rural power grid project of the 12th Five Year Plan.
 
From 2016 to 2017, with an investment of 11.91 billion yuan, Tibet Electric Power Co.,Ltd is responsible for the power grid upgrading project of 3070 towns and center villages, involving 61 counties in 7 prefectures and cities in Tibet.
 
By the end of 2017, Tibet strives to build a safe, reasonable, sturdy and durable modern rural power network, which is matches the orientation of small towns (center villages).
 
During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the investment scale of Tibet's power network construction will be doubled on the basis of the 12th Five Year Plan. In addition, Tibet aims to build a coordinated and unified power network and realize the connected power network of central Tibet, Chamdo and Ngari.
