Sept. 7, 2016 -- Three Tibetan villages have been listed by the Ministry of Agriculture as “2016 China Beautiful Leisure Villages”, which are expected to become the first batch of village tourism destinations for overseas visitors.

The three villages included Mama Village in Shannan’s Cuona County, Baka Village in Nyingchi’s Bomi County and Dadong Village in Lhasa’s Liuwu New District. All of them boast Tibetan folklore and historic cultures.

“Tibet has featured high mountains, clean waters and colourful humanity resources, which lay a solid foundation for its tourism development,” said Wang Songping, deputy director of Tibet Tourism Development Commission.

Now there are 812 family hotels in Tibet. A total of 97,000 farmers and herdsmen work in the tourism industry with an average of 10,500 yuan in annual income rise.
