Large-scale live action “Princess Wen Cheng” becomes tourists’ popular favourite

Aug. 25, 2016 -- It is reported that large-scale live action drama "Princess Wen Cheng" received 300,000 tourists with accumulative revenue of 150 million yuan RMB this year, turnning into a visiting card of Tibet' s tourism and culture propaganda.
The drama is performed beside the Lhasa River. It brings us back to 1,300 years ago. A touching story of Wen Cheng princess appears again, said the related director.
This large-scale drama also covers tens of Tibetan intangible culutral heritage elements, which tells the story of the princess with featured performances and costumes of the both stage arts.
"Princess Wen Cheng" cultural tourism theme and its auxiliary projects have started this year. One of item called Tibetan courtyard style street has been open to public since May 1. The street was consisted of folk culture display, Tibetan style, performances, personal services and so on, which attracts lots of tourists to go sightseeing.
Princess Wen Cheng was a daughter of Li Shimin, Emperor of Tang Dynasty (618-907), married Tibetan King Songtsan Gambo in 641. She took with her large quantities of silk fabrics, handicrafts and farm tools to Tibet. Her statute is still enshrined and worshiped in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
