July 14, 2016 -- Tibet Airlines, the first airline based in Tibet launched a new route to Beijing on Tuesday.
The new route links Lhasa, capital of Tibet,with Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province and Beijing. The six-hour new route now goes round trip on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Since Tibet is in the peak season of tourism, opening the new route will better meet the needs of travellers to Tibet.
In 2015, 3.63 million tourists out of a total of 20 million tourists were transported by planes in Tibet.
