May 13, 2016 -- According to China Earthquake Networks Center, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake (31.99 degrees north latitude, 94.94 degrees east longitude) with a depth of seven kilometers jolted Tengchen County, Qamdo, in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, at Beijing time 09:15 on May 11, 2016. So far, over 60 injuries are reported, among which six people are severely injured, according to the news released by emergency office of Tibet Autonomous Region's People's Government. All of the wounded have been safely transferred to Qamdo People's Hospital for treatment.
At present, Qamdo has initiated Level Ⅳ emergency plan and established earthquake relief headquarter led by chief officers from Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. Related materials needed, such as tents, clothing, food and drinks, drugs etc., have been prepared and shall be transported to the quake-hit areas as soon as possible.
