May 13, 2016 -- Tibet's expedition team conducted mountain hiking and skiing rescue training at the Yangbajing Alp Training Base on May 10, the first skiing training on the plateau.
The training was organized at Ludui snow mountain located at Geda Town, Dangxiong County of Lhasa. With the elevation of 6,006 meters, Ludui is a proper place for alpine skiing.
Basang Ciren, leader of the expedition team, said, "Experienced skiing coaches have been invited to teach the training class. The training focuses on mountain skiing rescue. We are going to build Tibet's first alpine skiing team."
"It will be much more difficult and exciting to ski on Ludui snow mountain compared with the man-made slopes," said A'wang Zhaxi, an experienced alpine skiing athlete.
"If conditions allow, we will hold mountain hiking and skiing activities at Yangbajing during the National Day holiday and we welcome more people to join," said Pubu Ciren, secretary of the expedition team.
