May 3, 2016 -- Tibet bureau of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) will invest 14.3 billion yuan to implement six major projects during the 13th Five-year period (2016-2020), according to the 2016 News Media Seminar on April 28, 2016.
"Now the airport density of Tibet is 0.4 per 10 square kilometers, much lower than the national average (2 per 10 kilometers square). Tibet plans to build branch airports in cities such as Shannan, Rikaze and Ali," said Baizhen, party chief of the CAAC's Tibet bureau.
"Tibet will improve service and strengthen punishments on flight delays," said Baizhen.
"Lhasa's Gonggar Airport will complete upgrading and be put into use this July," added Baizhen.
