June 20,2017--Tibetan cultural exchange group visited Spain from June 15th to 16th, the exchange group talked with Juan·Hersey·Lucas, chairman of the constitutional committee of Senate of Spain, and held symposiums in Chinese cultural center in Madrid and the Confucius Institute in Barcelona, exchanged views with experts and scholars of Spain, friendly personages and overseas Chinese.
During the visit, the exchange group introduced developing economy and protecting tradition of Tibet, especially the achievements and experiences of the integration of religion and modern society from China's ethnic autonomy policy, inheritance and protection of Tibetan Buddhism, the rapid development of education in Tibet, the Tibetan language and modern media technology integration, economic development and improving people's livelihood, measures and effects of poverty alleviation. Lucas spoke highly of the ethnic autonomy policy implemented by the Chinese government, and believed that China and Spain are faced with the challenge of integration of protect traditional and modern development. Lucas thanked the exchange group for its detailed introduction and expressed his desire to visit Tibet.
The exchange activity greatly enhanced the understanding of the current situation in Tibet among people from all walks of life. The exchange group will visit Austria and Belgium after Spain.
