March 27,2017--"A total of 19 Tibetan, Qiang and Yi cultural industry projects in Tibet have entered mid-term stage, with half of projects in Lhasa, Nyingchi, Chamdo have been completed and some of them already in operation,”  said Yingsa Norbu,  head of the Cultural Affairs Office of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, on March 13.

Yingsa Norbu said that projects across the Tibetan-Qiang-Yi cultural industry corridor have promoted Tibet to join the national “Belt & Road Initiative” and the construction of the South Asia Channel. The projects are not only helpful in promoting the transformation and upgrading of Tibet’s traditional cultural industry and the competiveness and influence of cultural industry in ethnic regions, but also in advancing Tibet in its way to become one of the world’s most influential tourist destinations.

In March 2014, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the “General Plan for Tibetan-Qiang-Yi Cultural Industry Corridor”, which covers the ethnic Tibetan, Qiang and Yi inhabited areas of more than 700,000 square kilometers in Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and Guizhou Provinces.

It is understood that these areas are rich in cultural relics and heritages, such as the Tibetan Buddhism culture, the Gesar culture, the Tang-Tibet ancient road culture, the Khampa culture and the ancient Tea-Horse Road culture.

Up to now, about 4.32 billion Yuan (0.63 billion US dollars) has been invested into 19 projects across the corridor. And the audio-visual musical drama North Tibet has been completed and will be staged this year.
