Thecultural activities were jointly sponsored by the State Council Information Office (SCIO), Chinese Consulate-General in Houston and the Texas Association of Asia Society.

 

At the opening ceremony, more than 200 people from all walks of life in Houston admireda photo exhibition, and watched performances given by the troupe of ABa Prefecture of Sichuan Province.

 

This visit is conducive to strengthening bilateral cultural exchanges and cooperation, and will enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, said Lu Guangjin, Director General of the Bureau of Human Rights Affairs of the SCIO in his opening speech.

 

“Roof of the World”, the world’s first full-length documentary which describes the relationship between man and nature on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, was screened at University of Houston and St. Thomas University.

 

As a flagship cultural event sponsored by the SCIO, the “Experience China” project has been held innearly 40 countries since its launching in 1999.
