"Tibetan Culture Research Center" to be State-level project

Oct. 17, 2016 -- The Research Center of National Tibetan Culture Digitization Project aims at the protection and inheritance of Tibetan culture and the development of Tibet's cultural industries. As a result, Tibetan culture will extend its global influence and increase the cultural communication between China's Tibet and China's neighbor countries, realizing the regional cooperation and common development. Further research of Tibetan culture digitization will ensure the leapfrog development of Tibet's cultural industries.

In 2015, Tibetan Culture Research Center began to apply for State-level project, which was the first time for the integration of Tibetan culture and science. If the application is approved, Tibetan Culture Research Center will become the first research center of the integration of science and culture in Tibet.

Tibetan Culture Research Center consists of two sections: Tibetan Culture Digitization Center and Technology Research Center. Technology Research Center mainly do scientific research. Cultural fruits will be transformed into cultural tourism products with Tibetan characteristics in here. Tibetan Culture Digitization Center is responsible for the manufacture and sale of these cultural tourism products.

In addition, Tibetan Culture Research Center is also developing Tibetan animation. With the maturity and popularity of VR technology, it will integrate VR with tourism, impressing more people with Tibet's beautiful scenery.

Moreover, Tibetan Culture Research Center will set up Tibet's largest Tibetan cultural digital platform covering classical literature, Tibetan medicine books, astronomy and calendar. Currently, there are more than 800 Tibetan medicine books on this platform. More further works will be continued for the completion of the platform.

3D scanning technology is also one of Tibetan Culture Research Center's highlights. This technology will be used for scanning ancient buildings, precious cultural relics and frescoes, protecting Tibet's cultural relics and frescoes.
