Aug.11, 2016 -- The 11th Panchen Lama, Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu paid a visit to Nagqu Prefecture, north Tibet from July 29 to August 9.
During his visit, he inspected Nagqu Town and Jiali Town in Nagqu Prefecture and was heartily welcomed by local residents.
On Aug.1, he visited Nagqu special education school to learn about the working, studying and living conditions of teachers and students there.
The Panchen Lama spoke highly of the teaching achievements of the school and encouraged teachers to commit to the growth and cultivation of those disabled children. A total of 250 thousand yuan obtained from the first Kalachakra ritual was donated to the school.
During the tour in the towns, he talked with local officials and representatives and listened to their reports on economic and social development.
The Panchen Lama visited local poor families and check poverty-alleviation progress.
The religious leader also hosted a series of Buddhist rituals and gave blessings to over 70,000 devotees.
The Panchen Lama also participated in the horse racing festival held in Jiali Town.
