May 16, 2016 -- The seminar on cultural assistance to Tibet and borderland management and stabilization was held in Beijing on May 8, 2016.

About 30 guests including government officials and academics attended the seminar jointly sponsored by the China Borderland Studies Research Center of the Minzu University of China (MUC), China Borderland Institute of China Academy of Social Science (CASS), Tibet's Rikaze Municipal government, and the Jilin province's 5th Batch Assisting Tibet Cadres Center Group.

They believe the work of assisting Tibet has made great achievements and cultural assistance to Tibet is still urgent and necessary under new circumstances.

"Cultural assistance doesn't mean introducing outside cultures to Tibet directly but to help and support Tibet preserve its own culture and conduct cultural exchanges in the meantime," said Ding Yong, deputy director of the publicity department of Tibet.

"When it comes to academic research on assisting Tibet, we should integrate borderland management with national security and strengthen the academic interpretation on cultural assistance, borderland management and stabilization in Tibet," said Ma Guoqing, director of the MUC's Ethnology and Sociology College.
