May 22,2020 -- Tibet has collected data of 3.15 million residents for making social security cards and has issued 3 million new social security cards so far, which covers over 90% of the regional population. Tibet is also the first to initiate the pilot project of electronic social security card and has issued more than 50,000 e-social security cards until now.

 

Recently, the Department of Human Resources and Social Security in Tibet Autonomous Region held a webinar on the issuance and use of social security cards and the building of Big Data project. Tibet has put a lot of efforts into the informationization of human resources and social security. The conference called for the acceleration of cards issuance to make sure that all the 3.18 million cards are issued by the end of 2020.

 

Social security card holders can go to the designated hospitals or pharmacies to see a doctor and buy medicine. If the card is damaged or lost, holders can call 0891-12333 or report the loss on the Wechat account of Tibet’s Social Security Card. Tibet will open service outlets to offer services for card replacement and reissuance.

 

Last September, Tibet started the pilot project of remitting pensions to social security cards. By now, 17,000 elderly people have received their pensions via the cards.
