update:April 23,2020
April 23,2020 -- With 17 counties in northwest China’s Qinghai province shaking off poverty on Apr.21st, all impoverished counties in the province have been removed from the poverty list.
Qinghai has put 60% of poverty alleviation funds into the development of feature industries such as yak breeding, highland barley cultivation and handicraft, benefiting 90% of indigent people.
In Ouke Village, Lajia town, Maqin County, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Golog of the province, 126 herdsmen recently received the annual dividend from the village’s Ecological Husbandry Cooperative. Since 2017, the Cooperative has recruited experts to provide technical support. In 2017, more than 110 yaks were sold. Most of the are dispensed to villagers, which has increased their annual per capita income.
Qinghai pays equal attention to ecological environment protection while helping people shake off poverty. Yaks are being bred in the designated pastoral areas to avoid damaging grasslands.
