To absorb the surplus rural labor, local authorities in Naqu, Shigatse and A’li help transform farmers and herdsmen into industry workers. With more and more farmers and herdsmen migrating for work, their income saw a big boost last year.

 

Enterprises across Tibet have played a positive role in helping local indigent residents increase income. 45-year-old Suolang works in a company which produces and processes fungi bags and dible fungi. Zhang Qi, the manager of the company, said that 68 workers out of 128 employees are from indigent households and their salaries range from 3,500 to 6,600 yuan.

 

In southeast Tibet, land transfer also brings local people benefits. At the Apple Demonstration Bases in Nyingchi, Xiren Deji said that her family can get an annual rent of 30,000 yuan.

 

Tibet has also utilized technology to upgrade industry. In order to solve practical problems in agricultural production, the region has organized 2,637 technological experts to offer professional guidance on agriculture and husbandry. In Tonglai village, Shigatse, with the support of technicians, people see local agriculture resurgent by growing black highland barley and black Chinese wolfberry that are competitive in the market.
