Qinghai-Tibet plateau has the most obvious biodiversity compared with other high-altitude regions in the world. Zhao said that there are 8 species of large carnivores captured by infrared cameras set up in Qinghai province and Tibet Autonomous Region. The infrared cameras have recorded large carnivores like snow leopard, wolf, brown bear, jackal and lynx.

Take marmota himalayana as an example. Its caverns provide many animals with secret nests. Marmota himalayana is a very important species in the food chain of Qinghai-Tibet plateau. Marmota himalayana itself is actually a food feeding more than 10 carnivores.
