People in Tibet unite to fight epidemic

Feb.10, 2020 -- To help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, people from all walks of life in Tibet have united to fight the epidemic by donating money and needed materials to hard-hit regions.

Over the past years, Hubei province has provided aid and support to southeast Tibet’s Shannan city for its economic and social development. To help Wuhan fight the epidemic, Shannan Tibetan Medicine Hospital donated 2,000 Tibetan medicine sachets. The workers in Tibet Shenhou Medicine Company worked around the clock to produce anti-epidemic Tibetan medicine.

In Nielamu, China’s border county with Nepal, more efforts have been made to step up the disinfection work in public areas. People’s body temperature at the entrance and exit of the county are monitored.

In Lhasa, Tibetan Buddhist temples such as Jokhang Temple and Sera Monastery held prayer gatherings and volunteered to donate money for epidemic-affected areas.

Many financial institutions in Tibet have also done what they could to contribute to epidemic control. Tibet Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China and Tibet branch of the Pudong Development Bank have provided government agencies and enterprises which are involved in epidemic control with quick access to services like withdrawal and capital settlement.
