Nov.5, 2019 -- The cultural event series “Meet Across Millennium” staged in Italy Nov.5, 2019 -- Scene play "Marco Polo" Nov.5, 2019 -- The cultural event series “Meet Across Millennium” co-sponsored by China’s State Council Information Office (SCIO) and the Chinese Embassy in Italy were staged in Rome on Nov.1st, 2019.More than 700 guests attended the event, which was held overseas for the first time this year. Lu Guangjin, director general of the Human Rights Department of the SCIO, said at the opening ceremony that the two peoples of China and Italy have long enjoyed a solid friendship. The ancient Silk Road, which used to connect Chang'an and Rome, is gaining vitality in the new era. This cultural exchange event will deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two sides, boost cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries, and contribute to the construction of the "Belt and Road."
Former Italian ambassador to China, Alberto Bradanini, said that the ancient Silk Road is the road of friendship. The two countries with ancient cultures should tap into the Belt and Road Initiative to push forward the Silk Road spirit.
Artists from northwest China’s Gansu Song and Dance Theater performed folk song and dances featuring Silk Road culture and the culture of western China.
