Oct.21, 2019 -- The class of 2019 started Wednesday at the Tibet Buddhism Academy.
Zhukang Tudeng Kezhu, vice chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC)and president of the Tibet Buddhism Academy, delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony.
264 new students were enrolled this year. In the past 8 years since its establishment, 744 students have graduated from the academy, and 54 living Buddhas together with 2640 monks and nuns have attended training programs.
The academy has played an important role in maintaining social stability and religious harmony in Tibet, said Zhukang.
He encouraged new students to study hard and help make Tibetan Buddhism more compatible with socialist society.
