Thangka painting activity in Qinghai sets Guinness World Records

July 30, 2019 -- A Thangka painting activity held Sunday in Regong has set the Guinness World Records for the biggest Thangka exhibition and the largest participation of Thangka painters. Regong, known as the home of Tibetan paintings, is located in Tongren County of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Qinghai Province.



July 30, 2019 -- A painter paints Buddha’s head. 

 
This activity is organized by the local government. About 1,000 Thangka painters were gathered in the Regong Cultural Industrial Park to paint Buddha’s head respectively and finish the main work within 4 hours. 

 
At the same time, the local government also selected more than 10,000 fine Thangka paintings for exhibition.
