Silk Road culture event held in Israel

July 5,2019--The culture event series “Meet Across Millennium” showcasing the civilizations along the Belt and Road kicked off Tuesday in Tel Aviv, Israel. The event was co-sponsored by the State Council Information Office (SCIO) of China and the Chinese embassy in Israel.

Sun Zhijun, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said in the opening ceremony that both the Chinese nation and the Jewish nation boast a long history and splendid culture. In the friendly exchanges that spanned the millennium, the two peoples have always been respecting each other and appreciating each other. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the exchanges and cooperation between China and Israel in various fields have deepened and played an important and positive role in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Gilad Cohen, Deputy Director General of the Asia and the Pacific Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, said the economic and trade relations and cultural exchanges between the two countries have developed rapidly in recent years. The bilateral trade volume has reached nearly 14 billion US dollars. China has become Israel's second largest trading partner in the world, and more and more Chinese tourists have come to Israel for sightseeing.”

A series of culture activities including art performances, books exhibition and films screening were also held in Haifa Thursday.
