China’s Tibetan delegation visits Sri Lanka

June 20, 2019 -- A Tibetan delegation of China's National People's Congress (NPC) members paid a visit to Sri Lanka from June 12th to 14th. 
 
The delegation, headed by Cheng Siqu, chairman of the standing committee of Shigatse municipal people’s congress and member of the regional people’s congress of Tibet Autonomous Region, held talks with Sri Lankan parliament members, local religious and media representatives.
 
Cheng gave an introduction of the remarkable achievements made in Tibet’s political, economic, religious and social development since the Democratic Reform of Tibet in 1959.
 
He said that China and Sri Lanka should continue to cement friendship and strengthen beneficial cooperation to push forward the strategic cooperation between the two countries.
 
Sri Lanka’s parliament president said that Sri Lanka and China have enjoyed a long-standing friendship and shared weal and woe. He hoped that the two countries can continue to promote cooperation in the future.
