Dance drama themed on Silk Road performed in Europe

June 27,2018--Chinese classical dance drama Magical Silk Road, was staged in the Czech Republic on June 20, as part of the cultural event series “Experience China 2018 -- the culture of western China” which will also take the ensemble to Hungary and Ukraine.

The drama, which was performed by the Gansu Dance Theater, features colorful Silk Road cultures in northwest China’s Gansu province, mysterious Dunhuang and a mosaic of multi-ethnic elements.

This is the first time for the ensemble to perform in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine, helping European audiences get to know the culture and development in western China, said Dou Hongyin, vice president of the Gansu Dance Theatre.

Western China, located in the heart of the Eurasia Continent, is a core region along the ancient Silk Road.

“Experience China 2018 -- the culture of western China” is organized by the State Council Information Office of China, to showcase colorful Chinese cultures and social prosperity in western China to the world.

The event featured singing and dancing performances, photo exhibitions and documentary films.
