Over 1,000 intangible cultural heritage programs recognized in Tibet

June 12,2018--Statistics show that more than 1,000 representative intangible cultural heritage programs at all levels have been recognized in Tibet Autonomous Region in recent years. The total number of inheritors has risen to 700 in the region.
Tibet has 89 state-level intangible cultural heritage programs and 96 national intangible cultural heritage inheritors.
The UNESCO has listed the Tibetan Opera and “The Epic of King Gesar” as World Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Tibet has digitalized thousands of intangible cultural heritage items for better preservation and promotion.
This year, another 28 Tibetan inheritors have been included in the list of the fifth batch of state-level intangible cultural heritage inheritors.
