Feb. 13, 2018 -- Tibet will continue to expand the road network in rural areas, making sure all towns and villages are connected with roads by 2020, according to a transportation work conference in Tibet.
Imbalanced development still exists in Tibet’s transportation sector. To build roads to prosperity, Tibet’s transport department will expand the rural road network in the following three years, said Yongji, director of Tibet transport department.
Tibet has extended rural roads from 53,244 kilometers in 2012 to 60,421 kilometers. In 2017, 42.243 billion yuan was invested in road construction, and another 40 towns and 166 villages were connected with asphalt roads.
In 2018, Tibet will build asphalt roads in 13 towns and 1,152 villages, laying a foundation for the goal of connecting all the towns and 80 percent of the villages with asphalt roads by the end of 2019, said Yongji.
