A team of specialists have been designated since 2005 by the local government to collect the intangible cultural heritage and interview the inheritors. Their works are being recorded in text, video and audio, said Cao Shiqing , director of the prefecture’s Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Press and Publications.

The prefecture has choreographed a Tibetan opera “Tongdong Gyibo” which is being staged across the region.

Religious activities to promote cultural inheritance have been held and a series of books on the cultural heritage in Gannan have been published.
