Jan. 5, 2018 -- In 2007, the business volume of the telecommunication industry in Tibet reached 3.635 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 35.10 percent; the length of optical fiber cable reached 150,330 kilometers, a threefold increase compared with that at the end of the Eleventh Five Year Plan Period (2006-2010).

To expand the telecommunication services, Tibet has been extending the telecommunication network to villages, newly-built roads and scenic areas.

Meanwhile, a pilot project of popularizing telecommunication services has been conducted in 5,210 villages, which will help realize the full coverage of broadband network in Tibet.

Vulnerable to natural disasters that may cause communication outage, Tibet has been improving the ability of emergency management.
