Dec.19,2017--A Tibetan cultural delegation of Tibetology scholars, Living Buddhas and officials visited Sri Lanka from December 14th to 16th, 2017.
A Tibetan culture picture exhibition and a seminar were held during the visit, attracting officials from Sri Lanka’s Buddhism Affairs Department, Sino-Sri Lanka Buddhism Friendship Association and more than 200 local teachers and students.
China and Sri Lanka has long maintained a good relationship and attached great importance to religious exchanges, said Zhang Yun, head of the delegation and director of the Institute of History, China Tibetology Research Center.
During the visit, the delegation also met with local journalists and discussed the Sino-Sri Lanka relationship, the Belt and Road Initiative and religious and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
In a meeting with local Buddhist monks, the delegation gave an introduction of China’s efforts to protect and develop traditional Tibetan culture and religion. The two sides expected more religious and cultural exchanges.
After the visit, the delegation headed for Myanmar.
