Tibetan cultural delegation visits Singapore

Dec. 15, 2017 -- A Tibetan cultural delegation of Tibetology scholars, Living Buddhas and officials visited Singapore from December 11th to 13th, 2017.

A photo exhibition and a seminar were held during the visit.

The photo exhibition featured a collection of over 60 pictures showcasing Tibetans’ lives, beautiful scenery, ecological diversity, traditional culture and religious beliefs in Tibet.

The Chinese government has attached great importance to the use and modernization of Tibetan language and protection of Tibetan classics, said Zhang Yun, director of the Institute of History, Chinese Tibetology Research Center.

Gao Weidong, deputy secretary-general of the Foreign Cultural Exchange Association of Tibet Autonomous Region, gave an introduction of Tibet’s development in economy, transportation, tourism and education in recent years.

Lin Denan, President of Singapore Association of Writers, said that he learned more about Tibet through the photo exhibition and seminar.

During the visit, the delegation also met with journalists from Lianhe Zaobao, researchers from the Institute of East Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore and officials from Singapore’s National Heritage Board.
