Nov. 21, 2017 -- The Cultural Exploration of West China in the US, part of the cultural event "Experience China in 2017", kicked off in San Francisco on Thursday.
The event was co-sponsored by the State Council Information Office (SCIO) of China and Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco.
The opening ceremony, attended by some 100 representatives from China and America, featured a photo exhibition of west China and a book exhibition of its history and culture.
"The city plays a key role in the Sino-US cultural exchanges. Days ago, President Trump paid a state visit to China and met with President Xi Jinping. The Sino-US relations have entered a new era. Against this background, cultural exchange activities will help lay the foundations for a healthy bilateral relationship," said Lu Guangjin, head of the delegation, at the opening ceremony.
Luo Linquan, Chinese consul general in San Francisco, said American people will be enchanted with beautiful sceneries, diversified ethnic cultures and rich history of west China.
Artists from northwest China`s Gansu province gave fascinating singing and dancing performances after the opening ceremony, winning rapturous applause from the audience.
