Nov. 16, 2017 -- The Cultural Exploration of West China tour, part of the Experience China series, kicked off in Los Angeles on Monday to showcase the colorful cultures of west China.
The event was co-sponsored by the State Council Information Office (SCIO) of China and Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles.
The opening ceremony which featured singing and dancing performances by artists from west China attracted an audience of over 1,200.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lu Guangjin, head of the delegation, said the Sino-US cultural exchanges in recent years have increased friendship between the two peoples. This activity aims to showcase the multi-ethnic cultures of west China and is expected to strengthen communication and lay solid foundation for closer bilateral relationships.
As one of the cradles of Chinese civilization, west China boasts rich resources and diversified culture, and now it has been at the forefront of the Belt and Road Initiative. The activity will help American people to understand China more comprehensively, said Sun Lushan, acting consul general of Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles.
Angela Efros who used to live in China for seven years but never traveled to west China said the performances are excellent and she has got a taste of the diversified culture of China from the activity.
