Oct.31,2017--Activities to raise people’s awareness of caring for the elderly have been recently held in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region, during which more than 50 institutions provided healthcare and legal services to local seniors.
By the end of 2016, the number of people over the age of 60 in Lhasa had reached 57,000, accounting for 10.7 percent of its total population, and the number of people aged over 80 had reached 65, 00.
The average life expectancy in the city hits 68, with the number of its centenarians increasing from 14 last year to 22 this year.
According to the civil affairs bureau of Lhasa, the city now has 9 nursing institutions which have 1,746 beds in total.
