Oct. 30, 2017 -- As the slow season approaches, the ticket price for the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, will be cut in half to 100 yuan from Nov. 1 to April 30.

The peak season for visiting the Potala Palace is between May and October. The number of visitors reached 800,000 during the high season this year and the total number is expected to top one million by the end of 2017.

Instead of booking tickets in advance, visitors can also buy tickets upon arrival during the off-season, according to the Potala Palace management office.

The repair and maintenance work will be carried out during the off-season to give the Palace a new look.
