Feb.23,2017--According to Tibet’s Tourism Working Meeting held in Lhasa, capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, Tibet received 23.15 million tourists from home and abroad, a year-on-year increase of 14.8 percent. The visitors brought 33.07 billion yuan in tourism revenue, up 17.3 percent. At the moment, there are 246 star-rated hotels, 448 star-rated family inns, 212 catering enterprises, 19 passenger transportation companies, 117 class-A scenic spots and 244 travel agencies. As the scale of tourism industry is expanding, the capacity gets remarkable enhancement.
With the special fund of 25.87 million yuan, seven scenic spots including Yamdrok Lake, Mt. Qomolangma, Basum Lake, Ra-og Lake and Nam Co were upgraded and improved. Pilot scenic spots’ construction, culture, service quality, environment and marketing have been enhanced.
In 2017, Tibet’s tourism will welcome more than 25 million tourists from home and abroad, generating over 37 billion yuan in tourism revenue. Besides, the tourism industry will provide 380,000 jobs and help 32,500 impoverished people out of poverty. Two 5A class scenic spots and more than 10 4A class scenic spots will be built.
Tibet will focus on the construction of all-region tourism and advance the building of tourism items, which will set up the all-region tourism demonstration zone with plateau features and ethnic characteristics. In 2017, Tibet will push forward the construction of four national all-region tourism demonstration zones (Lhasa, Nyingchi, Shigatse and Purang County of Ngari) and four regional all-region tourism demonstration zones (Chengguan District of Lhasa, Tohlung Dechen District, Gongbo gyamda County and Pome County).
Besides, Tibet will accelerate the construction of Gangdise International tourism cooperation zone, Nagqu Serling Tso wild animals’ tourism sightseeing item, tourism infrastructure of Drenthang mysterious valley and Drenthang--Karmagou hiking tourism item. Through enhancing the infrastructure of featured tourism towns such as Lunam international tourism town and Gironggou, and the environment of public service, the influence will be extended. In addition, Tibet will accelerate the building of tourism culture industrial park, China Tibet Mt. Qomolangma tourism cultural and creative park and border tourism pilot zone of Purang County. “Smart Tourism” will be invested more and traffic system in scenic spots becomes more convenience.
In order to deepen the construction of “Sacred Place on Earth, Heavenly Land in Tibet” brand system and enhance Tibet’s tourism image, Tibet will actively participate in tourism exhibition in both home and abroad, and organize the promotion activity outside China’s Tibet.
