Nov.15,2014--November 11th afternoon, representative delegation of 2014 Canada China Tibetan Culture Week completed all tasks successfully and back to Lhasa according to the reports.
Co-sponsored by China's State Council Information Office and the External Publicity Office of the People's Government of the Tibet autonomous region, Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver and Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto, the Culture Week was held in Vancouver, Toronto, and the capital city of Ottawa. The Culture Week features the following parts: the Glamorous Tibet folk song and dance show; the Inspiration from Plateau painting and thangka exhibition; and the Journey to the Roof of the World Tibetan film festival, the Reading Tibet book exhibition and the Listening to Tibet communication tour of Tibetologists and experts from Tibet Medicine School.
Dorje Tsedrub, head of the delegation and vice chairman of the people's government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, attended and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. He said that since its liberation in 1951, Tibetan excellent culture has been well inherited, protected and developed. This cultural event is constructive in enhancing Canadians' understanding of the distinctive Tibet. He also pointed out that the Cultural Week could strengthen the friendship between China and Canada by lasting initiatives to better understand each other. Besides, he has been interviewed jointly by more than twenty mainstream medias and Chinese medias during which he talked about Tibet’s great achievements in political, economic, education, medical care, infrastructure and cultural areas, as well as its accomplishments in environmental protection and religious freedom, using a great amount of data and comparisons between today and the period before Tibet’s peaceful liberation in 1951.
In the Culture Week, four Glamorous Tibet folk song and dance show were put on stages in Vancouver and Toronto respectively. Thirteen seminars were participated both by Tibetologists, experts from Tibet Medicine School, religious personnel appointed by our region and personnel from all-level classes including Canadian medias, scholars, experts and Buddhist representatives and overseas Chinese. Besides, there were events such as the Inspiration from Plateau painting and thangka exhibition; and the Journey to the Roof of the World Tibetan film festival including the premiere of the large documentary “Roof of the World”, and demonstration of feature films including “Dekyi Metok” “Thangka”.
The Tibet-themed culture week has become a popular event to showcase a real Tibet to the world under the leadership of the Chinese government. The culture week has been held for 11 times and toured over 13 countries since 2001, including Italy and Russia.
